What Instinct provided:

  • Mad-as-a-hatter decor including giant playing cards, topiary and chess pieces
  • The infectiously engaging DJ Emma, in full Alice outfit
  • The White Rabbit!
Location: The Pavilion, Southbank
Corporate Event Theme | Alice in Wonderland
In 2017, the Australian Ballet introduced Melbourne audiences to the mad and fantastical world of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland©, an extravagant full-length ballet by contemporary English choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.
With its huge, mind-bending sets, gorgeous music and choreography and mesmerising puppetry, this show is something to see! Fun, accessible, and yet sophisticated, it’s the kind of production that will no doubt be a gateway into ballet for generations of kids to come – much like The Nutcracker.

Corporate Event Theme | Alice in Wonderland

As you’d expect, the Australian Ballet wanted to celebrate the production’s debut with an equally show-stopping opening-night party for VIPs and sponsors, staff, dancers, musicians. Instinct was engaged to ensure the event’s decor and entertainment were outstanding.
Creating Wonderland at a corporate event
The Australian Ballet decided on a two-hour cocktail party format for the event, and allocated most of the budget to decor rather than entertainment to give guests plenty of time to mingle, sip and talk.

Instinct transformed the Pavilion in Southbank into a madcap Wonderland with high-quality styling, including knockout items like:

  • giant chess pieces
  • a black-and-white checked dance floor
  • topiary and hedges
  • pink flamingos
  • giant playing cards
  • and much more!
Entertainment in Wonderland
For this short corporate event, anything more than light entertainment would have been overkill. Crowd-pleasing DJ Emma – in full Alice costume, hair and make-up – kept the mood buoyant with fun tunes, while the rogue element of the famous White Rabbit ran ever late for his very important date throughout the party.
With a close-up-worthy look that involves four hours of prosthetics and theatrical make-up, the White Rabbit offers a selfie opportunity no one can resist, and kept guests laughing wherever he went.
A night of delightfully uncommon nonsense, provided by Instinct!
